Job Description

We're looking for a Lead Software Engineer with deep experience building scalable applications. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and a team player.

As a Lead Software Engineer you will work on various components of the Mylo platform, including various APIs and external integrations, streaming data processes, web apps, and more. Your initial focus will be on supporting, enhancing, and implementing features used by thousands of users across Canada. Most of our backend and DevOps infrastructure is in Javascript (Node.js) and we leverage AWS heavily to rapidly scale for our growing customer base.

Responsibilities

Our senior developers have a wide range of skills and so your exact duties will depend on how your skills align with the team. You will certainly:

  • Design, develop, test, and code review our software stack
  • Collaborate with the team in key architectural decisions
  • Participate in managing code & configurations for multiple environments, the release management process, creating and maintaining environment configuration and controls, ensuring code integrity and working closely with the operations team
  • Leverage your experience to drive the team to adopt Agile and DevOps best practices.
  • Share learnings and coach others

Qualifications

  • Node.js: It’s one of your top skills. You have 5+ years experience with Node and you understand JavaScript constructors, prototypes and closures and when to use them.
  • Microservices: It’s your mantra. You have experience designing system architectures, including microservices and service-oriented architectures using Docker and other technologies.
  • Amazon Web Services: 3+ years experience using a broad range of AWS technologies (e.g. Cloudformation, EC2, ECS, Serverless, ELB, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch) to develop and maintain an AWS based cloud solution, with an emphasis on best practice cloud security
  • DevOps: Solid experience as a DevOps Engineer in a 24x7 uptime Cloud based environment, including automation experience with various configuration management tools
  • Excellent problem solving, leadership, mentoring, and communication skills
  • Interest in startups
  • Interest in personal finance
  • You’re an active Mylo user.
